Grocery shopping meets couture: Chanel and #PFW

From New York, London and Milan Fashion Week, to the much awaited Paris Fashion Week, the months of February and early March have sure left us crushing over A/W14's couture collections! From those all time classic pastel layerings in Milan to Alice Cicolini's quirky Indian-inspired designs in London, AW/14 seems to have something or the other to whet every fashion enthusiasts appetite. And then there's Karl Lagerfeld's all new ready-to-wear collection for Chanel - classically chic, Parisian and youthful, it leaves majority of us seriously stunned!

The Grand Palais' exhibition hall was given an all new look for today's show when everything, and I mean literally everything, was transformed into a home-grown Chanel Shopping Centre. From Chanel's very own cereal brand to Chanel's personalised bath salts and more, Lagerfeld merged together the world of high street grocery shopping with luxury couture, enabling his ready wear collection to be a part of this all new everyday runway shopping fiasco. Models strutted down the aisles with Chanel's chain-design shopping baskets, trolley's, and dangerously appealing chain-saws, making a very ordinary grocery shopping experience appear extra, extra, extraordinary.

Chanel ready to wear A/W14

Dressed from head to toe in stone-grey, camel and candy pink, the classic tweed jacket, tartan prints and dainty pleats, which have very much been at the heart of the Chanel brand, were all given an all new sensual twist. From shopping bags in one hand to the all time favourite Chanel handbag in the other, the AW/14 women's ready-to-wear collection was just as much about these laced up boots and casual trainers too. From pairing a slimline jacket and skirt with a pair of high-gloss skinny's and street-style trainers, to a sophisticated jacket-suit paired with flat-heel leather lace up boots, the collection would be perfect race-day attire, despite coming straight off the catwalk!

Chanel AW/14

And that's not all. From matching crop's with ragged trousers, silver chains and extra long coats, Chanel's much talked about A/W14 collection embraces the all new fresh-face boy-look. That is, little emphasis given to all things feminine curves, and more emphasis given to those straight, figureless lines! Apparently, these autumnal vintage inspired Chanel coats will make for the the perfect over-lay on a day out grocery shopping! And judging from the above, Cara Delevigne sure thinks so too. I love the all new roll-neck crop, especially when paired with a sporty pair of trainers. The perfect tom-boy meets skater-girl look. Karl Lagerfeld impresses yet again!

Now let's go grocery shopping shall we?!

Spring Edit: I LOVE Pastels!

I know it's still pretty cold outside, but with the end of February near and with March around the corner I thought it would be very appropriate to do a 'spring season' inspired post sharing my love for pastel fashion! The probability of it being dreary, cold and blustery this March is undoubtedly high, but there is no stopping fashion brands from bringing out all those gorgeous garments that define SPRING FASHION. I've been browsing so many high-street and couture stores recently and there are literally so many beautiful pastel shaded clothes out there for this coming season! The plan is to move away from the cranberry/burgundy winter hues and usher towards the pastels whatever the spring weather brings! Here are some of my current favourites I am sharing with you below, and I will sure do a haul post of any pastel garments I do purchase this spring 2014!

Just to clarify...I know there were a couple of oversized boyfriend coats and layering knitwear that endorsed the pastel palette this autumn/winter, but there is no better time to wear pastels in full swing than the spring! So let's move on past pastel winter layering shall we...

CURRENT OBSESSIONS/FAVOURITES...

Pastel must haves

Pastel garments are all about wearing shades of lights/baby pinks, mint greens, duck egg blue's and a little hint of spring yellow. I absolutely adore all these pastel colours and find pastel's not only perfect for the spring but rather sensual and feminine for any woman to wear. Before stepping into the summer with a wardrobe full of bright and luminous colours, these spring pastels are perfect for adding that little depth of spring/summer colour to your wardrobe gently.

NEW LOOK: PINK SLEEVELESS PEPLUM - £8.99
This sophisticated peplum top would look great with a classic white pencil skirt or pair of denim jeans. I think the colour is perfect for the spring and can be accentuated with a bejewelled statement neck-piece for a night out.

LORD AND TAYLOR: ERIN STRAPPY STILETTOS - £78.00
How gorgeous are these Lord & Taylor strappy's? The neutral/nude undertone allows these versatile stilettos to be paired with almost anything. They are perfectly chic and would look great on the feet this spring.

MISS SELFRIDGE - FLOWER PASTEL CHAIN NECKLACE - £17.00
This is an all time favourite neck piece that oozes 'spring femininity' like no other. It's minimalist design and pastel shades make it ideal for the coming season, and would look fabulous against a simple white top/collarless blouse.

TED BAKER - ROMANTIC TIMELESS JEANS, LIGHT PINK - £55.00
Whenever I think of the spring I automatically correlate the season with all those blossoming flowers. Hence why these pair of jeans would be perfect for the season. I love the floral print against a pearl pink backdrop!

MISS SELFRIDGE: PASTEL FLOWER STUD EARRINGS - £8.99
Paired with the statement neck piece listed above, these stud earrings will finish off the look perfectly! Again, they are very dainty and floral, but given the design and colours I think they would be ideal.

STEVE MADDEN: MARLENEE MINT GREEN HEELS - £60.00
Ankle strappy's have been hot in fashion for a while now and they are certainly not going anywhere. These lush mint green heels would look great with those floral print skinny's or even a chic spring dress. I absolutely love these!

RIVER ISLAND: GOLD TONE PASTEL FLOWER STATEMENT RING - £4.00
I very rarely wear rings, but I particularly like the floral design of this ring, which would add that bit of colour to the hands. Given the pastel shades it will not look extremely obvious on the hand either.

RIVER ISLAND: YELLOW PADDED SHOULDER TANKER TOP - £25.00
Initially, I thought yellow may be too much of a bright colour - more appropriate for the summer. However, this daffodil shaded tanker top is perfect for the spring and would look fabulous when paired with a pair of denims or a leather mini skirt.

OUTNET.COM: BALMAIN LOW RISE SKINNY JEANS - £130.00
Mint green is one of my favourite pastel shades of the season, which is why I could not resist adding these pair of skinny jeans to my must-have list! I love the fact you can pair these with almost any colour, from pastel pink, white, to duck egg blue.

MANGO: SHIRT DRESS LIGHT PASTEL PINK - £30.00
This light pastel pink shirt dress is ideal to wear with any pair of stiletto's enlisted above. It's perfect day-wear and evening wear, and when paired with a classic pastel tote handbag and those shoes, I think this look will come together as something super chic and sensual for the spring.

MY PASTEL WISH LIST...

Pastel wish list
...And then there are some of those pastel garments that you also wish you could afford! We all have a wish-list from time to time, and these are four particular's that have made it to my wish list. If you are interested in where you can purchase these couture items from I have listed them below. Of course I do wish I could own these items too, but there's really no harm browsing and collating images to lust over!

VALENTINO: PASTEL PINK SHOULDER BAG - £1,195.00

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN: LADY PEEP SLING SPIKES - £835.00

MIU MIU: CIRÉ MINI SKIRT - £455.00

MISSONI: MARE KNIT PONCHO - £400.00

Get the London Fashion Week A/W14 look!

First and foremost, to all my nearest and dearest readers out there I am sincerely apologetic for the major lack of blogging this month! In all honesty, I've been really really busy working and I really haven't had enough time to sit down and blog! I have been heavily consumed by all the excitement around LFW A/W14, and I can honestly say the past couple of weeks have been incredibly awesome! Almost every corner street in and around Covent Garden, Temple and Strand has been adorned with LFW's Mercedes Benz vehicles and lush pink taxi cabs, bringing the whole fashion chic-ness to life! London is such an amazing city, and I truly feel so incredibly lucky to be here right now!

But anyway, again, I am very, very sorry for the downfall in blogging of late. To make up for it I'm doing a classic 'get the look' post for all of you out there looking for some inspiration. Keeping it relevant, I'm concentrating strictly on all the style's and suaveness coming from LFW! Go get your hands on these top five looks...

Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo arrived at this years LFW A/W14 in a splash of colour-blocking favourites. From mixing cranberry hues with a dash of electric blue, Olivia sure did make a lot of head turns on this occasion. What I love most? The fact that two of the most divided colours from the palette have come together to create an all new tasteful and chic outfit, perfect for the 'sloane' streets of London! Fashion is all about experimenting with different styles and colours, and this colourful experimentation is definitely a winner!

If your'e looking for that distinctly subtle yet sensual look, then this is the look for you! Add a pair of ankle strap sandals with an understated yet uber sexy jacket over your shoulders and you have mastered the all time LBD sensual look.

I love the whole statement look and think it's a super chic and rock-festive look you can even work with a pair of ankle boots when looking to work a daytime casual look. Every lady must own a black leather jacket - a staple for any wardrobe. Whether you're wearing you're jacket with a skater or a pencil skirt to a pair of trousers, keep it leathered! It's right on trend and looks just as sensational.

Poppy Delevigne

Poppy Delevigne was snapped at LFW's Anya Hindmarch in a very relaxed and sleek blazer look. Sometimes the all time favourite skinny's and relaxed blazer jacket are all you need to pull an outfit together, and here, Poppy shows us that two of the most essential wardrobe garments are good enough for LFW too! I love her sense of style and those heart printed loafers look so pretty on her feet - I must find these! Finish off your look with a simple envelope clutch and you've already turned you're relaxed casual look into a sophisticated day look.

Paloma Faith

Paloma Faith never fails to impress with her sense of style, and has quite often than not been snapped looking ever so fashionable and quirky. For LFW's Burberry show, Paloma was spotted in this super playful and colourful look, where the green and red palette's came together. I absolutely love her London St Pauls tee, and will always love the classic boyfriend coat draped over the shoulders. Ever tried wearing a bowlers hat with your oversized coat? Well now's your chance!

Ditch the soggy newspaper and invest in a brolly!

Apologies for the delay in blogging of late! I've had a number of things going on recently and didn't quite find enough time in the day to write a post! I know this is not quite a conventional fashion-post, but I think it's an important topic to write about at this given moment in time!

Let's face it! As much as we would like to think the spring weather is dawning upon us, waking up to a muggy, cold and grim morning everyday suggests otherwise! This January (as with many previous January's too) has been abysmal! Forever downpours, blustery winds and frost-bite have resulted in many of us failing to look after ourselves! Of course, staying wrapped up warm - layering upon layering is the only way how, but why do many of us forget about the head protecting essentials?! Travelling around Central London I am constantly surrounded by both women and men utilising the London Evening Standard as there essential rescue accessory to cover up there heads with. However, despite taking such measures....they are left miserably soaked either way!

DITCH THE SOGGY NEWSPAPER!

Fashion involves every aspect about how we dress to how we look, and even utilising an umbrella/winter hat as an essential accessory can look just as chic and fashionable as opposed to a soggy newspaper! Honestly, the weather in the UK requires us to cherish onto at least one of these head-accessories, and finding the most suitable and attractive one for yourself will enable you stay protected in a fashionable manner too!

Margot Robbie: The new girl on the block!

Australian born actress, Margot Robbie has come a long way since her humble beginnings in the Aussie soap, Neighbours. After winning over the majority of Australia's hearts, Robbie has bagged her first big Hollywood film opposite Leonardo DiCaprio! With the Wolf of Wall Street set to release this Friday in the UK, I can't wait to see Robbie onscreen as she paves her way into Hollywood!

Acting apart, I am in awe of Margot's sensational fashion sense, whether it's walking the streets of LA or strutting the red carpet (check her out at the Golden Globe Awards in a gorgeous Gucci ensemble!) Take a look at how you can get some of Robbie's sensual, dainty and casual looks for less, and do make the most of playing with different hairstyles in similar ways too, because versatility is sexy!

There are a number of ways in which the boyfriend coat can be worn, without having to simply wear it as a conventional coat! From placing the coat on one side of the shoulder to draping it over both the shoulders, the boyfriend coat is the ultimate overlay that will serve to look equally elegant and sleek. It's almost like a statement piece that does all the talking for itself, just drape it across your shoulders, and show it off too the world like a true fashionista!
